Gynecomastia ResearchOur world has definitely changed. That which would not have even been discussed, much less mentioned or acknowledged a hundred years ago is now an open topic, with research being done in medical circles all the time. One such topic, which was once considered taboo, is man boobs, also known as gynecomastia. Gynecomastia research is ongoing. While gynecomastia research has not received the same funding or attention that research for other medical conditions, such as cancer and aids, has received, it is important to realize that research is being conducted, despite the fact that gynecomastia is not life threatening. Numerous medications either have been tested, or are currently in testing, for the treatment and cure of gynecomastia. These medications include Apo-Tamox, Nolvadex, Nolvadex-D, PMS-Tamoxifen, Tamofen, Tamone, Tamoxifen, Dom-Tamoxifen, Alpha-Tamoxifen, and Novo-Tamoxifen. Any drug that is used to reduce the production of estrogen in the body is a candidate for gynecomastia research. Of course, surgery is also an option, and this option has been taken by many. Some have great results, while others do not. First, a breast reduction is not the same as a mastectomy, which is the removal of a breast, along with the breast tissue and mammary glands. These are two different types of surgeries. Unfortunately, not all doctors see it that way, and seeking the services of a doctor who specializes in female breast cancer is not wise when you only seek to correct your male boob problem. What you need is a plastic surgeon. Furthermore, while research is important, you don’t want to be any doctor’s guinea pig. Choose a plastic surgeon who has done male breast reduction surgeries before. In the past, there have been clinical trials for certain medications, as they relate to gynecomastia. However, there are no clinical trials currently in progress. This does not mean, however, that research does not continue. Research is conducted in a variety of departments, including the study of risk factors for man boobs, prevention of man boobs, and of course treatment options for man boobs. What one must remember is that while this condition has been around since the beginning of time, it was only acknowledged in the medical community in the last several decades, unlike research for other medical conditions that has gone on for much longer. So, even though gynecomastia has been around since the beginning of time, research concerning the male boob condition is still considered very new. If you have male boobs, you should seek medical treatment. In most cases, man boobs can be done away with, using one of three options: wait it out, take medication for it, or have breast reduction surgery for men.
